Stanley J. Somer

Mr. Somer is the Managing Partner and founding Member of the firm. He brings over forty years of experience to his role at Somer & Heller LLP. Mr. Somer received his undergraduate degree in accounting from Hofstra University and his law degree from New York Law School. Upon graduation from New York Law School, Mr. Somer was invited back as an instructor. He lectured at the law school for several years on legal research, brief writing and oral argument, in addition to working in private practice with various firms and being in house counsel to the Heatherwood Organization.


Jeffrey T. Heller

Mr. Heller is a senior Partner and founding Member of Somer & Heller LLP. He joined the predecessor firm of Stanley J. Somer & Associates, P.C. in 1995 and in 2000 the partnership of Somer & Heller LLP was formed. Mr. Heller received his undergraduate degree (cum laude) in finance and international business from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and his law degree from Brooklyn Law School. During law school Mr. Heller was selected as a law clerk to the Hon. Cornelius Blackshear, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York and also served in a position with the United States Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York in the Civil Department, in addition to working for various private firms.

Barbara Hutter

Barbara Hutter is a Senior Associate who joined Somer & Heller LLP in 2021. Drawing upon her twenty-five years of legal experience as a litigator, appellate advocate, legal writer and investigator, Ms. Hutter is a versatile and knowledgeable attorney who can handle your matter through from inception to trial to appellate proceedings. Ms. Hutter is a compassionate listener who works with clients to develop thoughtful resolutions to the client’s matter.

Upon graduating from Brooklyn Law School in 1998, first honed her skills during the eighteen years she spent as a prosecutor in the trial and appellate divisions of the acclaimed New York County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure there, Ms. Hutter handled and investigated over 900 cases including the most serious violent felonies of murder, robbery, burglary and assault. She also wrote several dozen appellate briefs and argued many cases before the Appellate Division First Department.
